EXTRA rehearsal on May 10th for the Finale at the studio
Everyone is expected to attend.
Please wear ballet shoes or jazz shoes and your dance leotard. NO COSTUMES YET.
Saturday May 10th at the studio
9:30-noon
All students need to attend an extra rehearsal to ensure comfort on stage and a fantastic show.
Parking is always a problem when we have a lot of people at the studio and the police have been known to come; so park legally and do not block the way. It would be best if you drop off your children or carpool. Students should be in their leotard and need only their Ballet or Jazz shoes. They should have their name in them- dancers always lose their shoes at this time of year.
Dress Rehearsal at Eastern Middle School- Friday May 16th doors open at 3:45
Annual Performance at Eastern Middle School- Saturday May 17th Dancers arrive at noon.
Backstage help
We need 2 female adults per class (sorry Dads). These people will have backstage passes and will be the ONLY PEOPLE ALLOWED BACKSTAGE. The main job of the backstage help will be to chaperone the dancers during the entire show (keeping them busy with coloring, games, and/or dvds ). You will be needed for BOTH the dress rehearsal day AND recital day. Backstage help will:
· Be able to watch their child’s performance from the wings and do not need to buy a ticket for the show
· Assist the whole class in getting ready to go on stage
If you are interested in signing up for backstage help - please let your child’s instructor know and you can fill out the form in the office. You will need to pick up your backstage pass before dress rehearsal.
**DROP OFF for Dress Rehearsal & Show
Students will be dropped off outside the school and to the left of the entrance of the school -It is studio policy that you will not be permitted to enter at this point unless you are working backstage and have a pass. “Runners” will be at the doors to take the students to their dressing areas. Students need to be dressed in their costume with tights on, hair and make-up done. You will not be allowed backstage to get the dancer ready unless you have a pass. Anything entering that door needs to have a name on it. If you supply your child with snacks, think “clear and dry.” Water, crackers, cheerios and the like.
DRESS REHEARSAL Friday. May 16th
doors open at 3:45
Dress rehearsal will be handled as a show day – students will arrive at the stage door and be brought to their dressing area by staff. We start the dress rehearsal with the finale. Once the dancers have run the finale and their individual routine(s) they will be able to leave. Students will be taken to their dressing area by Backstage Helpers to retrieve their belongings and be brought back to the door on the left near the piano .
It takes some time to get the students back to the dressing rooms, gather their belongings and walk to the lobby. Please, be patient- your kids are in good hands.
One parent may stay and watch in the audience area until their child is done. This will be your only opportunity to photograph or videotape your child – photos and videos are not allowed during the performances.
Dress Rehearsal is not a performance.
Please refrain from bringing the whole family – there will be someone at the door to monitor attendance.
SHOW DAY – Saturday May 17th arrival time is noon for the 1pm show
Doors to the theatre cannot open until all the dancers have arrived.
Students will remain backstage the entire show, no one will be allowed backstage other than Backstage Helpers with passes. Please send your child with something to do – a book, a coloring book, a video game. Do not ask to pick your child up earlier or think they will be released to you at intermission. This is for the safety of the children. After the finale, students will return to the dressing area and retrieve their belongings and will be released from the stage. Please only ONE family member wait to pick up your child at the stage, the rest of the family can wait in the lobby. Students need to leave the stage from the stairs – do not lift them off the stage. This is a very difficult task and your cooperation is appreciated.
